Reigniting Hope: Fellowship Recovery Community Organization's Newsletter Re-launch
Fellowship Recovery Community Organization (FRCO) had a busy and productive year in 2024, marked by a relentless commitment to enhancing the services we provide and making a meaningful impact on the communities we serve. Through diligent work across outreach, programming, direct services, and advocacy, we’ve made significant strides in fostering growth within our organization, expanding our dedicated team, and supporting the individuals who rely on us. Now, as we reflect on these accomplishments, we’re excited to re-launch our newsletter as a way to share our progress, celebrate our successes, and keep our community informed about the ongoing work we do to support recovery and resilience.
The focus of this newsletter is to keep our community informed and inspired, sharing success stories, upcoming events, and resources that can make a difference in the lives of those seeking recovery. We are excited for what the future holds, as we continue to expand our reach, improve our programs, and work together to create a brighter, healthier future for all.
Thank you for being part of the FRCO community. Together, we will continue to foster hope, promote healing, and build lasting connections.
Get To Know Our Staff: Pillars of Support And Dedication

As a house manager at Fellowship Recovery Community Organization (Fellowship), I have the privilege of guiding 28 men through their recovery journeys, providing them with the tools and support they need to transition successfully out of recovery residence living. My role involves regular check-ins with each participant to ensure they stay on track with their recovery goals and meet their ever-changing needs as they progress. It’s incredibly rewarding to create a space where individuals can feel safe, respected, and proud of their achievements. At Fellowship, we believe that recovery is more than just a process—it’s a lifestyle, and we strive to instill this in the people we serve.
My personal journey into recovery began later in life, in my late 40s. Treatment, including my time at BARC Detox and IRT BARC Coral Springs, was crucial in my transformation. In June 2023, I heard people talk about the importance of committing to recovery, and that’s when I decided to make Fellowship my next step. I had previously tried halfway houses without success, lacking accountability. But at Fellowship, I was held accountable with 90 meetings in 90 days, journaling, a curfew, and weekly meetings with my house manager. Over time, the program became second nature, and I found myself willingly adopting new habits—such as making my bed, keeping up with hygiene, and taking pride in my recovery.
Before recovery, I had reached a point where I felt life had nothing to offer. I even considered ending it all. But the love of my daughter pulled me out of my darkest moments, and it became my motivation to turn things around. I wanted to be a present father and regain a sense of pride in my life. BARC and Fellowship provided me with the tools I needed, particularly the importance of 90 meetings in 90 days, which gave me the foundation I needed to move forward.
One of the most impactful lessons in my recovery has been the value of service. As I’ve accumulated clean time, I’ve come to understand that being of service to others is essential in maintaining my recovery. It helps me stay grounded, humble, and less self-centered. Additionally, I’ve strengthened my spiritual connection with my higher power, and my relationship with my daughter has been one of my greatest blessings. Each day, I work to be a better person, and when I fail, I know that tomorrow is another chance to try again. Recovery isn’t easy, but I’ve learned to be kind to myself. I remind myself that my disease is strong, and I must trust others—especially my sponsor—who have the wisdom and experience to guide me. It’s not just a suggestion; it’s essential to my survival. Following the steps, being of service, and embracing happiness has allowed me to stay focused on my goals and the future.
Although I began my career path late in life, I am determined to make up for lost time. One of my major goals was to become a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS), and I’m proud to say that I’ll soon be CRPS certified. Working at Fellowship has helped me realize my potential and keep my focus on the future. My recovery has also inspired me to take better care of myself in other ways—quitting smoking, improving my diet, and getting back to the gym. I even bought a car after saving money in my first year working at Fellowship, a personal accomplishment I’m proud of.
As a Libra, balance is essential for me, and recovery has taught me the importance of self-care and finding time for myself. I continue to work on maintaining that balance, even as I progress further in my journey. Looking ahead, I’m excited to take my peer state exam in January and to contribute to exciting new initiatives at Fellowship, including the upcoming SMART Recovery program. I’m also saving money with the hope of traveling abroad and pursuing further education to become a life coach, therapist, or addiction counselor.
In addition to my personal and professional growth, I enjoy simple pleasures like cooking, spending time with my daughter, and bonding with my cat, Enzo. Whether it’s playing pickleball with my daughter, going shopping, or just relaxing on the couch, these moments are precious to me. I’ve learned to be present, not just for my daughter, but for myself as well. Recovery has given me the opportunity to reclaim my life and create a brighter, more balanced future.
As I reflect on the past year, it’s clear that recovery is a continuous journey, and every step forward is a victory. For me, the support of Fellowship, the structure it provides, and the relationships I’ve built have been integral to my transformation. I look forward to what the future holds and am grateful for the chance to grow, learn, and serve others along the way.
Reflecting on 2024: A Year Of Impact, Growth, and Transformation

2024 was a year of transformation, resilience, and community-driven progress. Thanks to the dedication of our staff, alumni, volunteers, and supporters, we’ve been able to provide critical services to those in need and further our mission of supporting individuals on their recovery journeys.
Our staff members are more than just employees—they are committed, compassionate individuals who are deeply invested in the recovery journey of each person they serve. From recovery residences House Managers to our Certified Recovery Peer Specialist, program facilitators, and administrative professionals, each member of our team plays a vital role in ensuring that our programs and services meet the needs of the community.
Equally important are the contributions of our alumni. These individuals embody the true spirit of recovery and serve as living proof that change is possible. Many of our alumni stay engaged with FRCO, offering mentorship, guidance, and inspiration to those currently on their journey. Their stories are powerful reminders of resilience and hope, and their involvement helps strengthen our community.
As we look ahead to 2025, we are filled with gratitude for all that we’ve accomplished and for the continued growth of the organization. But our work is far from done. In the coming year, we aim to expand our reach even further, offering new programs, increasing our volunteer base, and continuing to build a stronger recovery community.
We are excited to continue providing hope, support, and resources to individuals in need, and we look forward to the positive change we will continue to create together in 2025.
None of this would be possible without the unwavering dedication of our staff, the resilience of our alumni, the support of our community partners, and the generosity of our donors. Together, we are making a difference—one recovery at a time.
FRCO Achieves CAPRSS Accreditation: A New Milestone For Our Recovery Community Centers

We are proud to announce that we have earned accreditation from the Council on Accreditation of Peer Recovery Support Services (CAPRSS), a significant achievement that marks a new chapter in our journey to better serve individuals in recovery. This accreditation is not only a testament to the quality of services we offer but also a symbol of our unwavering commitment to the principles of peer support, community engagement, and evidence-based recovery practices.
CAPRSS is a nationally recognized body that sets rigorous standards for recovery community centers, focusing on the critical role that peer recovery support services (PRSS) play in helping individuals maintain long-term recovery. Achieving CAPRSS accreditation means that FRCO meets or exceeds these standards, demonstrating our dedication to providing high-quality, person-centered support to those who are navigating the challenges of recovery.
For our recovery community center, this accreditation is a powerful validation of the hard work and dedication of our team. It also signals to the individuals we serve that we are equipped with the tools, knowledge, and best practices needed to foster a safe, supportive, and effective environment for recovery. By aligning with CAPRSS standards, we can continue to offer essential services such as peer mentoring, group meetings, educational programs, and advocacy efforts that empower individuals in their recovery journeys.
Furthermore, CAPRSS accreditation ensures that our programs are not only responsive to the needs of the community but also adaptable to the evolving landscape of addiction recovery. It strengthens our partnerships with other organizations and enhances our capacity to advocate for recovery-friendly policies and practices at local, state, and national levels.
At Fellowship RCO, we believe that recovery is a community effort, and CAPRSS accreditation reaffirms our role as a trusted, dedicated resource for those seeking recovery support. As we continue to grow and evolve, we remain focused on our mission to inspire hope, foster resilience, and create lasting change for individuals and families affected by substance use disorders.
Fellowship Recovery Warriors: Celebrating Outstanding Leadership in Recovery And Community

Leadership in recovery creates a powerful ripple effect. When individuals embrace leadership roles, they inspire others to believe in themselves and their potential. In early 2024, Fellowship RCO’s Men’s and Women’s Recovery Residences introduced a new initiative to honor members of the community through nominations and voting within the residence. These Recovery Warriors are celebrated by their peers for being living examples of recovery’s transformative power. They show that with the right support, anyone can overcome challenges, emerge stronger, and lead others on their own journey.
As we celebrate their achievements, we recognize the essential role they play in our community. They are the heart of Fellowship RCO, and their leadership serves as a powerful reminder that, together, we can build a world where recovery not only happens but thrives.
Each of these individuals has demonstrated outstanding leadership in their recovery and in the larger Fellowship Recovery community. What sets them apart is their selflessness and commitment to lifting others up as they continue on their own journeys of healing. Their actions reflect the core values of Fellowship Recovery—compassion, accountability, and the belief that recovery is a lifelong process that requires dedication, courage, and support.
These Recovery Warriors have proven that leadership isn’t about title or position; it’s about inspiring change, empowering others, and creating spaces where healing can take place. Through their advocacy, mentorship, and active participation, they are not advancing their own recovery and also helping to shape the future of our community.
